The objective will be achieved through the following:

Accountability

The Te Tai Tokerau Northland Mental Health Action Group will:

  • hold providers and funders accountable for the provision of services that meet
  • the needs of consumers, families and whanau and the Northland community
  • Members of the group will:
  • be accountable to the community of Northland
  • be accountable to each other and to the group

Advocacy

The Te Tai Tokerau Northland Mental Health Action Group will advocate for consumers, families and whanau and the Northland community through a constructive process that will include:

  • challenge
  • debate
  • change

Communicate

The Te Tai Tokerau Northland Mental Health Action Group will:

act as a conduit for information flow between consumers, families and whanau, the Northland community and the providers, funders and the Ministry of Health.

Lobby

Te Tai Tokerau Northland Mental Health Action Group will work constructively through established processes and networks to achieve change. If required the group will lobby:

  • the Northland DHB
  • the Ministry of Health
  • Government
  • other key groups

Networks

The Te Tai Tokerau Northland Mental Health Action Group will:

  • work with existing networks within the region
  • build on the existing networks

Partnership

The Te Tai Tokerau Northland Mental Health Action Group will:

  • work in an inclusive way
  • encourage cooperation and collaboration
  • focus on the community, iwi, providers and funders “working together” to develop solutions

Planning

The Te Tai Tokerau Northland Mental Health Action Group will:

  • work with Providers, Funders and Policy makers to ensure that the needs of consumers, families and whanau and the Northland community are incorporated into all planning processes from the outset of the process
  • develop innovative solutions
  • promote “common sense” and practical solutions
  • evaluate the effectiveness of changes initiated

Resources

The Te Tai Tokerau Northland Mental Health Action Group will:

  • work to ensure the most effective use of limited resources - people, funding and facilities
