Who else can offer Smokefree Support?
Most PHOs (primary health organisations), GP Practices and Medical Centres have a practice nurse or other staff that can help people to become smokefree. Generally these services are free if you are a patient. Contact your local PHO or medical centre and ask them about their quit smoking services.

Pacific Services
Pacific Quit Smoking Service- Auckland Regional Public Health Service
This service supports Pacific people wanting to quit smoking. Quit Coaches are fluent in Samoan, Tongan and Niuean and represent a cross-section of the Pacific community in New Zealand.

Eligibility: Open to all Pacific peoples and their families.
Pasifika Smoking Cessation Programme- Ngati Whatua o Orakei Health Services
Ngati Whatua o Orakei Health Services run a Pasifika Smoking Cessation programme. The 12 month programme starts with an intensive 8 week period involving face to face support with a professional Quit Coach who develop a programme that is personalised to the individual.

Eligibility: All participate must be 18+, Pasifika smokers and their families.
South Seas Healthcare
This service is free and provided by Pacific community workers who are trained in smoking cessation to offer support along with subsidised Nicotine Replacement Therapy products. They will provide home visits.

8 week intensive programme involving free patches and gum, quit coaches provide advice, intervention and support, then follow-up at 6 and 12 months, if started smoking again, client goes back onto 8 week programme.

Mangere Community Health Trust Pregnancy Service
Support and counselling is offered for those pregnant women and their families who wish to be smokefree or to reduce their cigarette intake. The support can be home-based or at a clinic and is provided by Maori, Pacific and European staff.
