Background

The workstreams and sector groups were established to ensure appropriate expert input and participation of key stakeholder groups in the development and delivery of the Northern Region Mental Health and Addictions Services Strategic Directions 2005-2010.

Five workstream areas were identified:

• Primary Health
• Child and Youth
• Adult
• Older Adult
• Addictions

The workstreams have provided focused thinking, within a specific stakeholder network and deliver on specific regional projects agreed by the DHBs via NNC process.

The five sector groups are as follows:

• Whanau Oranga Hinengaro
• Moana Pasifika
• Asian Migrant and Refugee Group
• Consumer Forum
• Regional Family/Whanau Group

NNC recognises the role of these groups’ collective strength in the region to enable the further development of effective services in the region.  At June 2010 NNC meeting, it was agreed the need to reconvene/reconfirm the workstreams and sector groups.
